Gearing up!

While I just got my modest wheels back from the shop, somebody around here is getting ready for some action!
Indeed, we've started to get temperature in the 10 degrees, enough for the rats to come out of their holes. Now of course, spring is not here yet, let alone summer but hey! If the temperature is right... Off we go!!

- Cycling tops

- Cycling bib

- The diaper inside the bib (a.k.a. le chamois)
It REALLY looks like some female menstrual protection... And the fact that no underwear goes inside said bib REALLY reinforces the comparison. Ewww... Anyways!

- Big-ass derrière

- More gear: odometer and cardiac monitor.

- The man inside the bib. Meaty boy isn't he?

- Actually the big ass, diaper effect is not so bad...

- The man, fully dressed.

We are supposed to get around 17 degrees later this week. I'll try to document the first outing of the man.
Tomorrow is brunch time, the first since the winter settled. Let's see what pictures I can bring back.

The sum of all my fears

A few weeks ago, I posted the weirdest of all posts, the very first of the year, called "Disturbance".
Disturbance, indeed, was I sensing in the Force as some of the people closest to me had started behaving in odd and shady fashion...

Something was cooking...

Soon enough, things came to a head. I corned him. He flaked, then admitted. He confessed. He had been recruited. He had be seduced by the dark side of the Force, dammit. He had joined the evil ranks of the damned ones. Those whose name must not be spoken.

Friends and colleagues of his have worked their evil way into his soul, irrevocably corrupting it per saecula saeculorum. Possessed by the devil himself, he went out and, in a reckless fit of depraved decadence, ruined our finances forever acquiring this:

Yes, my friends, my husband has been transmuted into a freaking roadie, can anyone believe this shit?

The filthy instrument of  evil already received royal treatment, with a custom-made special resting area and that's only the beginning. Soon enough, the creature will get sent to spas while I'll get summoned to vacate the conjugal bed so it can replace me!!!!

But don't worry my friends, I shall find a way to defend myself and rescue my prince in distress from the spell cast by the devilish creature.

Avada Kedavra!

Hum... Does not seem very effective.

Meanwhile, Dear Hubby, poor innocent soul, started "preparing" himself for bike season, which should hopefully start in less that two months. In particular, the man decided to start strong on the diet front, an sample of which you can see below.

Yes my friends, canard confit and potatoes sauteed in duck fat. Talk about building some muscle!
Satisfied with himself, he topped the whole thing with a high energy, electrolyte replenishing, endurance developing drink. Pathetic...

Cheers!

Specialized-Lululemon women team

Humm...
Don't know what to think of this... Check it out!

Notoriously not a big fan of road cycling, I find this interesting nonetheless. For a while now, I have been trying to understand what Lululemon see in this new venture. Are they really trying to attract female cyclists to their brand? Or what else?
Anyone who has ever stepped into a Lululemon store knows how big of a stretch this is: it is a master split to perform.

Yep, I agree, cycling is on the rise... Yet their last two attempts at targeting the cycling community were major flops. This is how I got my Batwoman kit almost half price, remember? And this, in spite of the fact that a great deal of yoginis and yogis do cycle around (here in Montreal).
So...?
Lululemon is a very "girly" brand. Ok, not girly in a pinky marshmallow way. In a "inspirational", fulfillment seeking, self-realisation, lovey-huggey kumbaya way. It is very "Yin" despite all the achievement talk.
Road cycling and all, that's very "Yang". Yeah, I know they host running clinics and man! Hot yoga is *NOT* all that "Yin"...
Still, something is off. They can't even attract men as a market: the male line is incredibly anemic and has been so for years, despite several attempts to spice it up. Their previous "commuter" lines were fiascos, contrary to their recent ballet line which sold like hot dogs. And now we are to believe they are into road cycling... Female road cycling... Are they really that many, seriously? More than the troves of dance ladies desperately waiting for Lululemon to actually launch a stable and permanent line of basics? Pllllease!! We (almost) see as much Lulu as Sansha in dance studios nowadays... All yoga and running gear...
And assuming they really are enough road cycling ladies, do they need yet another cycling brand, what with all the Pearl Izumi et all already on the market? Why should Lululemon hop into a battle for a market that is foreign while turning its back on a captive one? Go figure!!!
Maybe they are assuming their cycling venture will turn out to be similar to their running venture?

Anyways...
Well, good luck to them. Hope it works out...
